Disappointment at Lack of Vision for Philanthropy in Budget
07 December 2011 | InThere was no mention of philanthropy or indeed charitable giving in the budget which was disappointing. Lobbying ahead of the Finance Bill will continue. “For transformational philanthropy to happen in Ireland we need a more enlightened approach from government” said The Community Foundation for Ireland’s Chief Executive Tina Roche. “This includes decoupling, a review of the cap, a focus on long-term estate planning and incentives around this and an acceptance that philanthropy should be cherished, nurtured and promoted”.

Community Gardens - Great Growth
25 November 2011 | InThe Community Foundation for Ireland today (24.11.2011) presented cheques totalling €52,000 from The Community Growers Fund to 16 Dublin based community groups. The fund supports community garden initiatives which involve local unemployed people and others in the community. Groups present included groups with both new and existing community garden projects. The fund was established in 2010 with the support of The Mount Street Club Trust.

The Irish Tax Institute has published a new book by leading tax advisor and KPMG partner, Michael Gaffney. Interestingly it includes a final chapter ‘Giving it All Away’ to which The Community Foundation for Ireland contributed.
